A few weeks ago, I took advantage of a less-than-24-hours getaway to the mountain hamlet called Valle de Angeles. This village shows up often in Sunday posts because it is only an hour away from the city by car, but it feels like I have traveled light years. It's not in a valley, but it sits atop a slightly level spot in the mountains. The air is crisp and clean year around. The streets are rarely filled wtih cars, but you may bump into a horse or burro occasionallly.
Here are a few highlights from my recent trip. The last picture is a friend stretching in the morning sun. It was far too cool for a swim when I snapped this early morning picture, but we were ready to walk towards the center of town for our morning cafecito and pan.
As always, Sunday posts are linked to Unknown Mami, who hosts our Sunday travels every week.

What a neat place to have in your backyard...
I enjoyed the journey through your pictures.
Valle de Angeles is a lovely village. I love the gated, doorway shot. The flowers framing the arch are beautiful.
What a beautiful setting. It looks like the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of a bigger city.

I would love to host your visit, Keetha. We could have watermelon juice, lemonade, horchata, jamaica tea or lots of other fun drinks (with or without a shot of something else).
I was seated in a coffee shop and noted the arched doorway of the place next door. I love that shot, too. Thanks for always being encouraging, Tara.
I love Valle De Angeles. It makes living in the city below a bit more bearable.
Thank you Judy. I enjoyed bringing you along!
You make it sound so beautiful and safe - is it safe? Are you afraid moving around?
Great shots, like postcards!
The Valle is safe to visit.I don't think it's safe to travel anywhere in Honduras alone or be alone at night. I would love to live out this way one day but I couldn't do be alone. Too dangerous for a North American since we all are perceived as very rich.
Wow! What a gorgeous place. I think I would have trouble coming home from there.
:-)
Traci
Every single one of these photos is great. The second one is just magical.
Star Traci, I often think of living in the Valle or a smaller hamlet nearby. Maybe one day I shall.
Thanks for the encouragement. I liked that second shot too. It makes me think of the possibilities that open doors present to us.
